Just when we thought the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case was over after Zimmerman’s acquittal, the Obama Administration has taken the steps needed to file federal charges, thus sidestepping the well established double jeopardy, against Zimmerman. Unidentified sources within the Administration have confirmed that Obama, and Justice Eric Holder at the Department of Justice have filed charges against Zimmerman for “violating Trayvon Martin’s civil rights”.
Double jeopardy is an often misunderstood concept in American Law. The rule merely states that an individual cannot be tried twice for the same crime in the SAME COURT. Liberal Justice Department officials often charge Americans with crimes from which they have previously been acquitted by filing federal charges on a similar crime in a federal court.
At approximately 10:01 pm EST this evening Judge Debra Nelson announced that the all women jury had found Zimmerman not guilty of fatally shooting and killing the 17-year old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, FL, just over one year ago.
The case has received national attention and nearly wall-to-wall coverage on all mainstream media outlets. While Al Sharpton and the entire staff at MSNBC has advocated heavily for a guilty verdict, we on the right have been praying for an acquittal for Zimmerman who was simply exercising his right to “Stand your Ground” (a Florida statute that apparently allows individuals to follow, track, then attack young Black youth before shooting them dead if feeling at all threatened throughout the process).
Obama has actively used his influence throughout the case (think “If I had a son he would look like Trayvon”). Earlier this week, multiple sources, including Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and the entire right wing, has reported on the involvement of the Federal Government in spending millions of dollars in support of anti-Zimmerman protests (race riots). According to Fox News, ” The Community Relations Service (CRS), a unit of DOJ, reported expenses related to its deployment in Sanford to help manage protests between March and April 2012, according to documents obtained by the watchdog group Judicial Watch.”

I believe there was an encounter at the T. But my theory is that Trayvon stood his ground the best he could with his fist at the TEE GZ got up and pulled out his gun. My real theory is that he already had it pulled and was in pursuit. When Trayvon sees the gun in GZ hand he backs up and starts screaming for help. That’s why the defence couldn’t answer that. Wait a second, Clay. If Trayvon had just came up and shot Zimmerman for just being followed and that’s all that happened, he definitely would be charged. Not because he of his skin color though, but in that type of case shooting it would not have been justified. There would have been other alternatives. Zimmerman, believed (and the evidence supports his injuries) that he was in imminent fear of death while being punched and having his head hit on the sidewalk. Therefore, his he was found Not Guilty of the murder charges due to the laws of self defense. The whole incident is unfortunate for everyone involved. There are no winners in this situation or this argument. I can’t see George Zimmerman wanting to kill this young man in any context; People are saying he was/is a “wanna be cop”…even police officers don’t want to shoot anyone unless they are in a situation where there is no other alternative. Courts look at evidence, witness testimony, defendant’s statements — along with their background and character. Some of the background and character is relevant and some isn’t. Did you happen to notice in the trial that the defense chose not to use Trayvon’s toxicology report results although the court had given them permission to use it? That was potentially risky for Zimmerman but respectful toward Trayvon and his family.
America’s justice system does work. We don’t always get the decision we want to hear with our hearts and that applies to criminal court, civil court, family court, etc.
The whole situation is a great tragedy. I don’t in any way mean to lessen the fact that a young man was killed; However, this whole issue was well stirred by the media. First, by releasing old photos of both Zimmerman and Trayvon — when Zimmerman was more overweight than he was at the time of the shooting, and displaying Trayvon as a slight, younger appearing child. Secondly, by pushing the white against black issue. The term “black male” was used only as a descriptor to the police operator to the question, “Is he white, black, or Hispanic?”.
There was not any racial motivation for the shooting. Originally, the call was placed to police to check out a suspicious person. That does not mean Trayvon was DOING anything wrong.

Okay, FACT #1, Zimmerman obstructed justice when he was on the phone eluding the police to a specific location when it can be proven that he knew exactly where he was…..ultimately, his Goode friend’s patio. On a personal note I might even concur that Zimmerman forced Trayvon, in that given direction with his car and stalking activities.
FACT #2 Capital Murder is committed when a crime in progress causes the death of another. Zimmerman was already a criminal when he got off of the phone and against the better judgement of the operator and continued to stalk the child.

Second, the operator should have sent a unit out to pick up a a disgruntled and Swearing, George Zimmerman, who was following an unknown black male after being advised not too and not providing vital information as to location and not waiting at suggested location.

He is not a murderer. The yells for help stopped before the gunshot. Zimmerman would have had no more reason to call for help since he had stopped Trayvon from potentially killing him with a shot. If I’m not mistaken, witnesses started to come out of their condos, shortly thereafter police arrived.
This is not a valid argument. First, Zimmerman did nothing to obstruct justice, nor did he attempt to misguide the police in any way. He eventually did end up near Mr. Goode’s patio…Close enough for Mr. Goode to see Trayvon on top of George so that he testified he observed Trayvon punching downward in the direction of Zimmerman’s face and head. (Mr. Goode and Zimmerman were not “friends”. Didn’t really know each other.)
Second, you are making assumptions that are based on your opinion or the way you wish things to be. There is no fact or basis to build your points on.
Zimmerman was in his truck speaking to the operator when Trayvon ran out of his sight. Only then did he get out of his vehicle to go look around the building to see if Trayvon was still in the area. He wasn’t. THAT is when the operator asked, “Are you following?” George replied, “Yeah.” The operator said, “We don’t need you to do that.” George answered, “Okay,” They then started speaking about where he was going to meet the responding officer. I don’t see how you figure Zimmerman could have influenced Martin’s path of travel by use of his vehicle there on the street. He certainly was not stalking Trayvon. He really wasn’t even following him. If so, only in the limited definition in that he went in the same direction he saw Trayvon disappear.

He was already following him and was instructed to leave him alone. He was instructed not to approach Trayvon but he did any way, he attacked him, got his ass handed to him and killed him. If it was you walking home day or night and someone decided to profile you, follow you and rape you would you not have the right to defend yourself? Does this mean Zimmerman’s gun was exposed when the confrontation started? Most likely it was not, because it would be in THAT situation, when a fight wouldn’t do any good.
George Zimmerman attacked a 17 year old black male on his way back from the store with skittles. The boy wore a hoodie. Zimmerman thought this was suspicious, called the police, and pursued the boy. In turn, after being confronted, Trayvon Martin decided to defend himself. There’s an altercation. Zimmerman pulls his gun and shoots the boy. I’ll even say this: Zimmerman would have been justified to shoot Martin IF and ONLY if Martin confronted him. But that would only happen if Martin saw a car following him from the gate of this neighborhood. And still, Zimmerman should have been convicted of a crime for obstructing justice, by not allowing law officials to come secure the situation.

The boy who was shot by police while handcuffed and they said he did it himself, the boy who was handcuffed in the train station with the police officers knee in his back and shot in the back, the man shot 48 times the night before his wedding, all of these men are dead and no one was found guilty, what it says is that the law doesn’t work for black people, because if the roles were reversed in any of these cases the black perpetrator would have been under the jail and there would be no need for a cry for justice…the woman who is serving a 20 year sentence for shooting a warning shot against her husband that was beating her and did not hit or kill anyone… she invoked the stand your ground… the man who was beating her defended her and they still gave her 20 years… and finally the famous Rodney King story…even though it was caught on tape like many of the stories I just mentioned they were all found by our American laws not guilty….

I do agree that hatred is not at the heart of the feelings people have in reaction to cases involving victims/perpetrators of different races. In either person’s shoes being a victim of or hearing about an assault, murder or what one might consider an arrest for unapparent reasons, the central emotion is fear; Fear that the same could happen to you, your family or friends. That fear then leads to mistrust of people of the race of the ones that are the perpetrators of wrong doing. The media emits a LOT of information…more times skewed toward one side than not. Then there are the advocates for either side driving their opinions even when they do not have all the facts straight. I can tell you from experience that law enforcement does not tell the media every detail of every arrest or crime. So when you see a story in the news or an article in the newspaper, you are getting a small portion of information about whatever the incident may be.
I agree with LOVEMYCOUNTRY. There are just as many Caucasian Americans that are murderered or assaulted African Americans, possibly more statistically. Most of those crimes, even if heinous, just don’t get the national media attention because the victims are Caucasian.
